Coffee Mornings

Coffee Morning!

Hello people, Mouse here.

Our next Happy Greys Social Club Coffee Morning will be on Sunday 31st October.

And this time, it’s a special one – It’s 👻🎃Halloween🎃💀, and time for all stylish doggos to get their Spooky on! Miss Lotti and I will be dressing up, so Staffs, if you and your doggo are coming, it would be fun to see some Halloween-themed outfits on Doggos, on Staffs, or on both!

Starting at 9.30am, Miss Lotti and I and our Staffs will be at Social Café in Walkerston. If there are any Grey (or other sighthound) families out there who are free to join us, you will be very welcome. We are also always happy to see fur-riends of other persuasions, and hope Miss Bella and Miss Tuppence will join us again as we enjoyed their company.

Bring a bowl and a blankie. There will be puppacinos… The Staffs say the human coffee is good, also the cakes and bickies, and I can personally vouch for the bacon!

Hope to see you there 🐾

New Friends #2

Hello people, Mouse here.

Tuppence: What is this ‘puppacino’ you speak of?

I’d like to introduce you to our new friend, Miss Tuppence. She and her Staff, Aunty Lyn W (as opposed to the original Aunty Lyn P, Lotti’s mum) came to our Coffee Morning on Sunday. A fine time was had by all, much conversation (both doggo and human), many coffees and puppacinos, some chocolate muffins (eeuw) and a generous serving of lamb jerky (yum). Miss Tuppence had her first  puppacino experience, and seemed to take to it like a dog to gravy! Sadly, Aunty Sharon and Bella were not able to attend this time as they have travel plans and packing to do, but hopefully next time.

Lotti: Did someone say jerky?

Meanwhile, the Staffs are plotting something called a Picnic. I’m sure that will be explained to me once the minions have finalised their plans, but I believe it involves grass, blankies, food within easy access of a greyhound snoot and lots of shameless begging. I will have to discuss strategy and technique with Lotti… Something about the Botanic Gardens was mentioned, but I’m not entirely sure, eavesdropping while pretending to be asleep is such an unreliable form of information-gathering.

Mouse: Eavesdropping is hard work… Just waiting for the word ‘Bone’ before I leap into action!

We are off travelling ourselves soon! Once again, the Staff and I are going north, for a nice break in Cairns. I’m looking forward to catching up on the Sniffs & Socials (that’s Doggo for ‘social media’) around the caravan park and in the off-leash dog parks up there. I’m also rather looking forward to the very acceptable bacon and puppacino for breakfast at Brother Jenkins Café. Once we’re back, we’ve scheduled the next Coffee Morning, which will be at 9.30am on Sunday 31st October at Social Café, as usual. A long time to wait, but there you are. As usual, the Staff will post an advisory a week before the event, and as always, all greys, sighthounds, fur-riends, fur siblings and associated Staff are welcome.

Till then, people. Mouse out.

New friends

Hello people, Mouse here

Well, last Sunday’s Coffee Morning went well!  Mum and I were walking up to Social café while Dad came along after in the ute bringing My bed and bowl, when another ute stopped just up ahead of us and out of the window came Lotti’s head! She and her Staff were also on the way there, so she and her Mum decided they’d walk with us, while her Dad went on ahead and grabbed our table.

When we got there and had all got settled, Mum spotted Aunty Sharon and her nephew arriving with our new friend Bella. She’s not a grey (poor thing, she can’t help it), but she is very pretty, and unlike many small dogs, was not noisy or terribly wriggly, so she was a nice peaceful companion and suited our nature very well. She had brought her own bed and a toy, so we doggos were all comfortably situated while our Staffs chatted.

Well, the humans had the usual coffee, some of them had orange and almond cake, there was a decorated cookie for the youngest member, and of course, we doggos got our puppacinos! Bella hadn’t had one before so it was fun to watch her learning to navigate a paper cup!

At the end of the session, Mum managed to capture our final ‘guest’, who wasn’t much of a conversationalist, but who was very interested in cookie crumbs!

That evening, we went round to Aunty Lyn’s for a barbecue. Lotti and I conducted a board meeting while the humans chattered, and then we went to demand our share of juicy steak and sausage.

And there’s good news! Aunty Sharon met a work colleague later who has a grey! And Aunty Sharon told her about the Coffee Mornings, and hopes she can be persuaded to come along for the next one!  That will be fun…

Till next time, Mouse out.
